On a presidential debate held on the 26th July ,2022 at the Catholic university of eastern Africa, The deputy president William Ruto who is also a presidential candidate attended the debate with his opponent Hon. Raila Odinga in absentia.
On a statement released by Raila Odinga’s spokesman, it was stated that Hon. Raila will not share a stage with a man who has no integrity and even went ahead to state that he lacked basic decency.
William Ruto when asked why he thinks that Raila odinga could not make it to debate, stated that Raila odinga is an unfit candidate who is also a state project. Ruto continued to say that the whole state project statement started after the handshake with the current president of Kenya,Uhuru Kenyatta.
Ruto however stated that he has tremendous respect for all kenyans and kenyan leaders and he has not undermined anyone during the political period.
He went ahead to state he has never called anyone “taka taka” or any other absurd insults in the name of campaigning. He also is on the stand that the word “ kitendawili” is not an insult.
As the election preparation is underway, deputy president stated that accepting the outcome of the elections includes going to court if one is not comfortable with the outcome of the election.
The 2022 presidential candidate , William Ruto echoed that he is ready to accept the outcome of the results and if not satisfied, he will go to court to avoid shedding of blood by innocent kenyans.
William Ruto reminded Kenyans to disregard the propaganda behind the campaigns and that come 9th August 2022, Kenyans are the one who will decide the next government.
Deputy President, William Ruto also reminded Kenyans to vote for him come August for change in various sectors such as employment and health in the country.
