Earlier today, the former Nairobi governor took to his instagram page to confirm that, he has officially ditched Azimio la Umoja coalition For Kenya kwanza. This comes after the court failed to heed to his request of appointing Ali Mbogo, his running mate, as the gubernatorial candidate for Mombasa.
He stated that ,”It is with a heavy heart that I come to you this morning. You all know what has been going on and how I have been pushed to the wall trying to do our best for you my people of Mombasa. Time is not on our side and I have to sit down as a leader, think about what would be best for my people and I have come to the realization that I should work with a government that shares the same vision for my people as I and one that benefits them. It is not about Sonko now, I have to think about the people of Mombasa and their future.”
He further continues to declare that,” I want to get into agreement with UDA, so that I can be assured of jobs and opportunities for my Mombasa and Nairobi people.”
Mike Sonko assured his supporters that he has nothing against Azimio, “Going on the other side, i go in peace and promice peaceful camapaigns sio siasa ya chuki wala matusi.”
“Below are positions offered to me and my people as captured in the engagement agreement/MOU.” He went ahead to layout the positions that Kenya Kwanza has in store for him. This include:
- one CS National Government.
- Three PSs National Government
- Four Ambassadors
- Three CEC’s Mombasa county
- Three Chief officers Mombasa County
- Two CEC’s Nairobi County
- Three chief officers Mombasa County
The former Nairobi governor asked for blessing from his supporters as he embarks on his political journey under Kenya kwanza coalition.
He said,” If you’re with me na mnipe baraka zenu then i will be signing this agreement in the next two hours.”
