The Independent electoral and Boundaries Comission of Kenya has responding to a viral audio exposng Junet as meeting with high end meetings with the IEBC’s top officials
In a media briefing on Monday, 1ST August 2022, the vice chairperson ,Juliana Cherera denied those allegations of a meeting and cofirmed that there’s no meeting that took place.
She went ahead to state that the Independent electoral and boundaries commission have started investigations regarding the clip and the source will be determined sooner or later.
In her statement,” As far as I am concerned, there is nothing factual about it. We have our ears in the ground and people on social media who have been monitoring what has been happening.”
She went ahead to affirm that a number of experts are working in the audio. “It has been shared out in the pool of experts who shall look into that.” She said
In line with politics, the vice chair urged Kenyans to ignore any upcoming information from any poll. Kenyans should only trust information froom the independent electoral and boundaries commission.
Cherera said,” Let me make it categorically clear that the only information that is legitimate came from the commission through the daily press briefings and official social media handles.”
There have been allegations that there are underway plans to infringe the KIEMS kit; The IEBC vice chair dismissed the allegations saying they are untrue.
She said,” Every week, we have been inviting Information technology experts from all parties to the warehouses to ascertain what is contained in the KIEMS kits amd the process is very transparent.”
The chair of IEBC has also led a commission targeting individuals who are buying identification card from individuals for the purpose of rigging votes. He promised that the issued in being taken care of by experts.
The Commission is promising Kenyans a very free and fair elections come 9th August 2022.
