Junet Mohammed, Suna East member of parliament has issued a press briefing condemning IEBC for suspension of gubernatorial elections in counties of Kakamega and Mombasa.
The suspension of the gubernatorial seats was due to the placement of wrong pictures of the candidates and their details.
According to the independent electoral and boundaries commission chair, Wafula Chebukati , election for the respective seats will be done on a later date which will be gazetted by the Independent electoral and boundaries commission.
In his press brief, Junet Mohammed stated that the suspension was a huge blow to the Azimio la Umoja, One Kenya coalition being that the counties are great supporters of the same coalition.
He went ahead to urge Azimio la Umoja supporters in Mombasa and Kakamega to turn out in huge numbers and vote for Raila Amollo Odinga as their fifth president.
”We urge Azimio supporters especially in Mombasa and Kakamega to turn out in big numbers to vote for their favourite presidential candidate, Raila Amollo Odinga,” Junet said
Junet further urged the residents of Kakamega and Mombasa counties to vote for other balloted seats such as the senator, Member of National Assembly, Women representatives and member of county assembly under the Azimio la Umoja Coalition.
“Despite of the suspension, we are urging our supporters and residents of Mombasa and Kakamega county to come out in large numbers, please. What was suspended is only the election of gubernatorial seats; election of the senators, women representatives, member of parliament and MCAs are going on as scheduled tomorrow morning , 6 AM.” Junet stated.
Junet went ahead to state that Kakamega and Mombasa supported should not be worried of the elections and they should vote for their leaders starting with the presidential candidate who is Raila Odinga.
