Prof. George Wajackoyah has expressed his disappointment after the KIEMS kits failed to work at his home place in Makungu, Kakamega County.
Wajackoyah, who arrived at his polling station to cast a vote could not exercise his democratic right because of technical issues experienced by the KIEMS kits.
He issues a statement questioning why he is not able to vote being that his opponents, Azimio la Umoja’s Raila Odinga, Kenya Kwanza’s William Ruto and Mwaure of Agano party has already voted.
“ My strong hold people have not voted. The entire Kakamega county has not vote. Koyonzo is on fire. Why in my stronghold? Why should we vote for presidential elections if am the only one who has not voted. Why Kakamega county? Why Matungu sub- county? What are this people afraid of?” Wajackoyah said.
Wajackoyah further questioned if it is right for votes to be counted and him, a presidential candidate has not voted.
”Does it means if I don’t vote, votes will be counted? “ Wajackoyah asked.
The presidential candidate further condemned IEBC for not testing the kits before bringing them to the polling stations.
Prof. Wajackoyah said that most of his supporters have gone home because of the disappointment at the polling station. He further doubted that none of his supporters will come to vote even if the kits will be made.
He claimed that the government is rigging him out of the elections like the opinion polls have been doing.
Prof Wajackoyah’s wife also expressed her disappointment saying it is not right for KIEMS kits not to be working on election day.
” It is really disappointing for machines not to be working on the day that is most important to the lives of Kenyans concerned.” She said.
She however said that they stand with God and no weapons fashioned against them will work.
She further urged prof. Wajackoyah’s supporters to remain vigilant and calm ,the issue is being worked on to the end.
