As the independent electoral and boundaries commission continues with the tallying of votes, Kirinyaga Governor has expressed her claims.
According to the media , Waiguru told the Independent electoral and boundaries commission to stop the count as she claimed that her votes have been rigged.
She said, “ Stop the count!”
Despite Kirinyaga county being a United democratic party stronghold, Governor Waiguru does not seem to be gathering votes for herself.
One netizen commented that, “ Kirinyaga is a UDA stronghold as the polls show. But one thing is a fact, Kirinyaga people are not fans of Waiguru.”
Current Kirinyaga governor, Ann Waiguru is on the ballot with Ngirici Wangui under the Azimio la Umoja coalition.
According to results as of now, Wangui Ngiric has a total of 93, 812 votes which equates to 43.49% as Ann Waiguru is following closely with 90,702 votes, equating to 40.06%.
In Kirinyaga county, the Independent electoral and boundaries commission stated that there was a total of 376, 001 registered voters.
Yesterday, as the gubernatorial elections in the same county was on, 262,201 voters turn out to vote on the same , Kirinyaga county.
According to statistics, this was a ratio of 70 per cent of the expected number of people who were supposed to vote on 9th August 2022.
Ann Waiguru further stated that, this was a rigging process that was being done right in front of the people of Kirinyaga.
She alleged that, there were some ballot boxes containing Gubernatorial votes that were passed through the back door.
She tagged the Independent electoral and boundaries commission saying that the whole process was wrong and it was not right for the tallying process to continue as scheduled.
She took to her social media accounts to say, “Rigging in broad daylight??Two ballot boxes with governor’s ballot enter Kianyaga through the back door in broad daylight! They MUST be removed! And Tallying MUST stop.”
