Member of parliament elect, Kimilili Constituency has finally surrendered to the police.
The MP who alledgedly shot and killed his opponent’s aide is now in the hands of authorities.
Didmus Barasa upon arrest stated that he is also eager to know what killed the body guard, Brian Olunga.
He claimed that he had travelled to Nairobi when he saw the news of his arrest but now he is back and ready to cooperate with the authorities.
The case that is under investigation has Didmus Barasa as the key suspect on the killing of the late Brian Olunga.
Didmus stated, “I went to Nairobi to get an anticipatory bail pending arrest but when I saw on TV the regional police commander asking me to surrender, I drove all the way to this place and I’m ready to cooperate with the police so that I also know what killed that young man.”
The member of parliament further stated that his aide was also injured and he is still in recovery at the hospital.
He also stated that so many had guns that day and anyone could have killed the late Brian Olunga.
He stated,”There were other people with guns as well including my competitor, the police officer who was manning the polling stations. We will also be making an application that all firearms that were there be subjected to forensic investigations.”
Yesterday, the police department issued a six hour ultimatum to Didmus to present himself vefore the authorities.
The homicide team had been deployed in search of the alledged killer of Brian Olunga.
The regional commander further gave a serious warning against anyone harbouring Didmus Barasa.
He RC said, “A specialized team of sleuths based from the elite Crime Research & Intelligence Bureau and the Homicide department has been dispatched to augment the teams on the ground for his manhunt.”
Didmus Barasa is now under custody awaiting a court order
