24 year old Linet Chepkorir ‘Toto’ has been declared The Bomet County Women representative seat elect.
Hon. Linet was declared the winner by the Independent electoral and Boundaries Commission after garnering a total of 242,775 votes in the general elections that was held on 9th August 2022.
It is a history taking moment for Chepkorir who was Contesting under United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket , since she scored most votes being that she is the youngest woman on the ballot .
The word ‘Toto’ was branded to her because of her age( 24years). Most women who had the seat prevously were of prime age , it is true to say that Linet has beaten all odds to get the seat.
With a total of more than 200, 000 votes cast in Bomet Couty , Toto garnered of 242, 775 votes as Alice Milgo of Chama cha Mashinani (CCM) who came second garnered a total 43,180 votes.
The seat was a neck to neck battle since it was eyed by eight(8) women. The other contestants were Beatrice Chebomui, who got a total of 4,649 votes.
Hellen Taplilei who garnered a total of 1,665 votes . The other contestant was Susan Koech who managed to get a total of 1,247 votes.
Viola Tesot , who was also on the ballot, managed a total of 1,740 votes. Other were Florence Birir who garnered a total of 2,045 votes While the last on the race was Susan Korir with a total of 1,275 votes.
Hon. Linet Chepkorir after being handed her Women representative seat ,said that she is grateful for the kind of hope and faith the people of Bomet accorded to her upon election.
She further urged anyone of her age that’s the youth , to be confident and go for leadership seats like she did.
Toto promised to deliver according to the manifesto she had told the people of Bomet County and the promises she gave to the Women of Bomet county.
