In a memo on the 15th of August 2022, it confirmed the sacking of Kenyatta university vice chancellor, Paul Wainaina.
The memo stated, Mr. Wainaina has been relieved off of his duties as the vice chancellor of Kenyatta university, effective immediately.
A decision by the university council, stated that a letter has been wrote to Wainaina to inform him of the decision that was made.
Mr. Wainaina’s dismissal took effect on 5th of August 2022, as indicated in the letter by the council of the Kenyatta University.
”It stated,” Further to the earlier communication from the Kenyatta University council, I write to inform you that the council vide a letter to prof. Paul K. Wainaina, resolved to summarily dismiss him from service with effect from 5 August 2022.”
The memo further stated that, any communication from the Vice Chancellor will not be effected because Mr. Paul Wainaina is no longer in power.
The Council however urged the University to remain vigilant and calm as the activities of the University will still be running normally.
The memo stated,”Therefore any Communication and/or instructions from him are null and void. I therefore I request you to remain focused and ensure that the University Continues to run smoothly without any disruption.”
This comes after a reinstatement was done on vice Chancellor , Paul Wainaina upon his decision to challenge the decision in Court.
Vice chancellor Paul Wainaina had a land tussle with the state headed by president Uhuru Kenyatta leading to his replacement by Waceke Wanjohi.
The head of Public service had written a letter to the Vice Chancellor, Wainaina, to lease some of the University land to the Government.
A letter that Wainaina dismissed, this led to his sacking as the Vice chancellor of Kenyatta university.
The court had ordered his reinstatement to continue with further investigation on the land tussle.
