Some of the motorists took it to their social media pages to air their grievances.
“We have slept on the road from 8 pm Nairobi to Gilgil (currently). No movement. No idea what’s causing the gridlock.” One said.
Worried parents also express their worries stating that their kids will also spend the cold night on the highway because of the traffic.
The motorists further blamed president Uhuru Kenyatta for not expanding the highway, since its being used by trucks from western.
They further expressed that many motorists from western suffer in silence.

The Kenya national highways authority has however stated that it has intercepted the matter. They also advise the motorists to remain calm and vigilant. To also observe traffic rules.
KENHA stated,”Police are currently on site and working on the situation to restore normalcy. Motorists are advised to exercise lane discipline and avoid overlapping as they approach this section in order to avoid further congestion.”
