Wetangula, Kalonzo set to battle national assembly speaker.
Bungoma county senator, Moses Wetangula, Kalonzo set to battle the eyed speaker post at the national assembly.
Moses from Kenya kwanza and Musyoka from Azimio la Umoja were nominated by the parties to set a bid in the speaker post.
Earlier, Moses Wetangula had stated that he will be the third in command of Kenya. He further revealed being nominated speaker of the national assembly, was the deal he had with Kenya Kwanza, if he garners votes from western region.

Kalonzo and Wetangula picked their nomination papers from parliament after president Uhuru issued a gazette notice.
The first sitting will be held on 8th september 2022, where the elected legislators will be sworn in and thereby declare the speaker and deputy speaker.
Clerk of the National assembly stated, “That at the First sitting of the House, the Members-Elect shall be sworn-in in accordance with the requirements of Article 74 of the constitution and immediately thereafter the House shall proceed to elect a speaker and deputy speaker of the National Assembly in accordance with Article 106 of the Constitution.”
Others who have shown interest for the seat are; Farah Maalim, Dadaab Constituency MP-elect, Noah Winja and Jared Oluoch Oundo, Gichugu MP-elect Robert ,Gichimu Githinji and Isaac Aluoch Polo.
The speaker post will be decided by the majority of the members of parliament.
Azimio la Umoja fronted Kenneth Marende
They stated,”As Azimio coalition, we have decided to front Marende as our candidate for the National Assembly Speaker. We have decided to go for someone who has been tried and tested, someone who understands the operations of Parliament.”
