Some of us were coerced to join Azimio stated Kagwanja.
Former muranga senatorial candidate, Peter Kagwanja has stated that some of the leaders were coerced to join Azimio la Umoja coalition.
A report he revealed on KTN news, Kagwanja said that most leaders were not ready to be in the opposition team since all indicators pointed towards Raila Odinga’s win.
He said,”I was with Muturi but my wife is in the cabinet and I did not want to break my family because of joining the opposition.”
On monday 5th, president elect William Ruto stated that some of the leaders in Azimio la Umoja coalition were forced to join the coalition.
Ruto was speaking in regards to signing in new members to the executive party, Kenya Kwanza.
Ruto said,”Many of them were told if you don’t join Azimio, this court case will be brought to you and many other threats.”
Kagwanja clarified that the words said by the president elect were true and some of the leaders( including Kagwanja) did not have the freedom to choose their political afiliation.
Kagwanja said,”I’m just clarifying it is true and for different reasons there were others and I do not want to get to the extent that people were coerced by systems and whatever, but I don’t think there was the freedom of choice as we would have it.”
President elect, William Ruto has assured anyone who wants to join Kenya kwanza to feel free to do so , since the party upholds democracy.
