I will hand over power smiling but my leader is Raila stated Uhuru Kenyatta.
President Uhuru Kenyatta has shared his sentiments regarding the hand over and presidential transition.
He maintained that the numbers chose William Ruto but he know baba, Raila Odinga is his leader.
He said,”You have denied yourself the opportunity of bringing the country together. You haven’t denied Raila. Mimi I will hand over power smiling because it is constitutional. Aluta continua. Mimi nitaenda nihand over lakini kiongozi wangu ndio huyu hapa.”
Uhuru further urged the members of parliament to be vigilant in their choosing of the speaker. They should not be caught up in thinking that Azimio la Umoja is in the opposition therefore not choose the speaker rightfully.
He added that the members of parliament who won through Azimio la umoja ticket should stick with Azimio to the end. This leaders should not allow any coercion of any manner.
Uhuru said,”I want you to stand together and resist attempts of being bought. Kesho nataka kuona kama mko Azimio kwa sababu mlikuja mkasema tuko Azimio. Kama ulichaguliwa na Azimio, simama na Azimio.”
This comes after president elect William Ruto stated that president Uhuru has not yet congratulated him. In his interview with CNN’s Christiane Amanpour, Ruto added that maybe Uhuru is sad his candidate of choice lost the elections.
He said,”Unfortunately, President Kenyatta has not seen it fit to congratulate me.Maybe he’s a bit disillusioned or maybe he’s unhappy that I defeated his candidate, but that is the nature of politics.”
