Speaking on the press, Wetangula stated that the members of parliament should channel their supremacy battle through legal means and parliamentary provisions.
He further stated that if the members of parliament approach him to resolve the matter, he will do so.
Wetangula said,”Nothing has come before me yet but when it does, we will give it a reasoned approach and communicate with the parties involved.”
The speaker also said that the matter is not as big as everyone thinks. He will refer to the constitution and the law for that matter to resolve the battle.
He said,”I am sure it is not a difficult issue to decide on. We will look at the law, the Constitution, the standing orders and make a decision.”
On the other hand, Azimio members of parliament want to have the upper hand in parliament because of their numbers.
They stated that anyone who is against it will seek the law; the matter can not be solved by the speaker.
Azimio said,”The question of Azimio being the majority is already settled and anybody who is dissatisfied can only seek redress in court. There is no ruling or determination to be made by the Speaker.”
Other members of parliament, the likes of Hon. Ichungwah stated that if the supremacy issue is not yet decided.
Ichungwah added that what removes Azimio from the equation is the difference between a coalition party and a coalition of political parties.
Ichungwah said,”Therefore, we go back at looking at whether we have a coalition of parties with the highest number of seats. Kenya Kwanza has nearly 190 MPs.”
