Court petitioned to jail ICT CS Joe Mucheru.
Court petitioned to Jail ICT CS Joe Mucheru, this is after Uzalendo institute of leadership and democracy filed a suit against him.
The Uzalendo institute argued that the Cabinet secretary went against the court to appoint Stanley Kamanguya as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the ICT Authority.
The Uzalendo group want the court to lock him up for six months for contempt of court and also jail Kamanguya and two other senior officers in the ICT Ministry for failing to honor summons.
Through their lawyer James Oketch, Uzalendo institute has filed for a warrant arrest for the above individuals.
Oketch argued that Kamanguya’s appointment was unconstitutional, he also accepted the job offer despite being aware of an injunction barring his appointment.
However, Kamanguya has defended himself saying, his appointment by Joe Mucheru was constitutional.
Oketch’s affidavits stated,” The petitioner deceptively failed to disclose to the court that Kamanguya had already been appointed as CEO of the ICT Authority on August 8, 2022, and a notification to that effect published in the Kenya Gazette.”
“Consequently, the petitioner knowingly misled the court to issue an injunctive order that was ineffectual,”the lawyer added.
President William Ruto’s advisor, Korir also questioned Kamanguya’s appointment. He termed the appointment as irregular and must be revisited.
Korir stated,”An appointment made by Joe Mucheru on August 8 – a day to the elections – and purportedly communicated on September 15 is highly irregular and must be revisited.”
