Other names include; Gilgil Member of Parliament, Hon. Martha Wangari ( first chairperson), Ugenya member of parliament David Ochieng, Emukhaya MP Omboko Milemba, Daadab MP Farah Maalim and Kitui South MP Rachel Nyamai.
The legislators will serve as members of the speaker’s panel in 13th parliament; It will be chaired by the Speaker and the Deputy.
Roles of the panel
1. Assist the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker in presiding over house sittings.
2. Weekly basis meetings to discuss arising issues and the challenges of presiding in the House.
3. Stand in for the speaker or the deputy incase they are absent or chair a plenary session.
4.Ensure decorum and moderating house sittings just like the speaker.
5. They are mandated to exercise all powers conferred on the Deputy Speaker, according to the standing orders that govern the operation of parliament
Nomination of this panel, is done by the speaker through consultation of parliamentary parties.
However, they can be replaced through orders of the speaker.
On the other hand, Amason Kingi through the senate parties, picked four senators to serve in his panel.
The 4 include; Garissa Senator Abdul Haji, Bomet Senator Hilary Sigei and nominee senators Veronica Maina and Catherine Mumma.
A 21 member team was also selected to vet the nominated cabinet secretaries.
