Foreign journalist Sharif shot dead in Kenya, news that was confirmed by his wife Javeria Saddique.
In her statement, Javeria reported that, the police broke the news to her and indeed her husband was killed in Kenya.
Javeria said,”I lost friend, husband and my favourite journalist @arsched today, as per police he was shot in Kenya.”
Javeria has appealed to the medis to accord the family privacy, as they mourn their loved one, Sharif.
She said,”Respect our privacy and in the name of breaking pls don’t share our family pics, personal details and his last pictures from hospital.
Remember us in ur prayers.”
According to the media, Sharif was shot in the head and killed by police after he and his driver allegedly breached a roadblock that had been set up to inspect motor vehicles using the route.
Officers said,”We had an incident of shooting which turned out to be a case of mistaken identity involving a journalist. We will release more information later.”
According to authorities , at the roadblock, there was a call for police to intercept a car similar to the one they were driving following a carjacking incident in Pangani, Nairobi where a child was taken hostage.
Colleagues to Sharif have reacted stating how shocked they are by the news.
Journalist Ihtisham said,”I am really sorry Javeria!! The whole country is heart broken. We just don’t have words.”
“Deepest condolences to you and family javeria, its a huge loss, may God gives you a strength to bear this tragedy.. inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi rajioon,”Maryam said
