Government deploys 350 police officers; The energy police will be responsible for the cases of power supply outage, vandalism among others
Speaking during a conference in Nairobi, the director of renewable energy at the Ministry of Energy, Benson Mwakina, confirmed their plans to heighten the security concerning the energy country wide.
Benson stated,”Right now, we have an energy sector police unit taking care of the infrastructure.”
“We have a team in the Ministry of Energy based at Kawi House headquarters headed by a commissioner of police, and he is the one coordinating about 350 officers countrywide to ensure that our installations are safe,” the director added.
The directive was effected because of the rampant case of power outage cause by vandalism of power supplies.
During Uhuru’s regime, the former president stated that anyone found vandalising enery supplies should be charged with treason.
Uhuru said,”Electricity vandalism translates to economic sabotage as damage to critical infrastructures can affect the country’s operations.”
