List of Bigwigs dropped from the EALA race as Azimio and Kenya kwanza present their preferences.
List of bigwigs dropped sums up to atleast 20 who had applied to represent the country in the regional legislature as members of parliament are expected to vote on November 17.
A total 287 interested individuals expressed interest for the nine slots at the EALA.
Ex Senator Gideon Moi, secretary general Nick Salat, Wiper national chairman Chirau Mwakwere, Ex Busia senator Amos Wako, former EALA lawmaker Simon Mbugua, former KNUT chairman Wilson Sossion and former Bomet MP Florence Mutai were among those who were dropped.
However, After the drop out, KANU released a statement explaining why their leader dropped.
KANU secretary stated,”We would like to notify the public that Moi has since withdrawn his candidature to give the opportunity to the other candidates. He wishes them the best of luck in their endeavours.”
Additionally , Some of the former legislators( Members of parliament) also missed the list. They include; Bernard Bett (Bomet East), Yusuf Chanzu (Vihiga), Paul Bii (Chapalungu), Defence CAS Peter Odoyo, Mwangi Githiomo (Nyandarua), Zuleikha Juma (Kwale) and Gladwell Cheruiyot (Baringo).
In the Raila led coalition( Azimio la Umoja) George Midiwo and Siaya Senator Dr Oburu Odinga’s son Jaoko Oburu also missed out from the party’s list of preferences.
Those who made it to the list; UDA presented 15 names while Azimio presented 12 names.
In the United Democratic Alliance, They presented the following; Ex Mombasa senator Hassan Omar, ex-nominated MP David Sankok, ex Nandi Woman Representative Zipporah Kering,Rebecca Lewoiya, Godfrey Karobia, Joel Nyambane, Fredrick Muteti, Falhadha Dekow, Abdikadir Omar, Anne Too, Jonas Kuko, Cyprian Iringo, Lilian Cheptoo, Yasser Ali and Salim Mohammed.
In Azimio la umoja; Kalonzo’s son Kennedy Kalonzo (Wiper), Winfred Mutua, Hellen Ndeti, Winnie Odinga (ODM), Suleiman Shahbal, Justus Kizito, Mohammed Diriye, Beatrice Askul, Timothy Bosire, Kanini Kega, Jeremiah Kioni and Fatuma Gedi.
