Even when you are working together you are not bound to agree on everything- Sifuna against IEBC 4 removal.
Nairobi senator, Edwin Sifuna has stated that Cherera and Chebukati disagreeing is not grounds enough for removal.
Speaking during an interview, Sifuna stated that Article 125 of the constitution, stipulates that gross misconduct not misconduct can only be a basis of being striken out.
He stated,”The grounds for removal of the commissioners has been set high. When we talk about gross misconduct there have been various decisions in the past on what constitutes it.”
“I just do not think people taking a contrary opinion on a process is going to be a gross misconduct. In fact the Supreme Court did not lay any blame on the commissioners,” he added.
He further defended the four independent electoral and boundaries commission officials( Cherera, Wanderi, Masit and Nyang’aya) saying that it is not everyday that workmates agree on something.
He stated,” Even when you are working together you are not bound to agree on everything.”
This comes after a petition was handed to Moses wetangula, for removal of the four IEBC commissioners from office.
The petitioners include; Republican Party, Dennis Nthumbi, Geoffrey Lagat and Owuor Steve Jerry.
Irene Masit however, filed a petition objecting the removal of her and the other three.
