You can not be forced to sell your produce- Agriculture CS dismisses Kuria.
Agriculture Cabinet secretary, Linturi has dismissed the Trade cabinet secretary saying farmers should not be pressurized to sell their produce.
This comes days after Trade CS, Moses Kuria stated that the only way for the government to stop importation of duty free maize, is if the farmers release their hoarded maize in less than 72 hours.
Linturi assured that he is the one in charge of agriculture and every Kenyans will be supplied with food in due time.
He stated,”Relax, you will have food. I am the custodian of the national food status and will give a more comprehensive report on the same because I have all the data.”
You can not be forced to sell your produce. The government is working to ensure there is food security in the country and that with the right nutritional content,” the CS added.
On the other hand, Kuria decried that the produce from the rift, will not be sufficient to serve every Kenyan in need of food.
Kuria posed,”We will still suffer a shortage of 15 million even if all the maize is released; this was brought to me by Linturi. After it’s finished, what shall we do?”
