A regime desperate to gain legitimacy- Karua comments on Chebukati’s alleged murder plot.
Azimio la Umoja deputy principal, Martha Karua has spoken on the issue that was raised by president William Ruto regarding Chebukati.
Allegedly, there was an underway murder plot targeting the Independent electoral and boundaries commission former chairman , Wafula Chebukati.
Martha Karua has questioned on why, Kenya kwanza did not raise the issue when the court proceedings were underway.
She added that if any of the allegations were true, why did the president not take any actions or why did Chebukati not report any of it.
She questioned,” Why did Chebukati not disclose this to the court during the presidential petition or better still report the matter to the police? Six months into the Ruto regime why has no action been taken if these allegations have any iota of truth ?”
On her part, she deemed the allegations as false. She stated that Kenya kwanza is trying so hard to hit the opposition.
She stated,”My take is that this is carefully designed propaganda by a regime desperate to gain legitimacy by spewing outrageous falsehoods aimed at hoodwinking the public while undermining its competition.”
Karua additionally, stated that it is so wrong for the head of state to make such allegations being that one of the Cherera 4 is still under tribunal investigation.
She stated,”It is irresponsible for a leader to abuse public office to make unsubstantiated allegations against his competition and against public officers junior to him (Cherera four) to the extent of compromising the ongoing Tribunal against one of them. Is Ruto ready to record a statement.”
Her statement comes after other Azimio la umoja allies, dared the president to produce evidence, implicating the opposition and that indeed there was a murder plot.
