State house announces stand of orange democratic movement lawmakers , who met up with the head of state.
In a deleted tweet, state house announced that some of the lawmakers had pledged allegiance to the president.
The tweet read,” ODM Members of Parliament pledge support for the government.”
However, moments later, the tweet was replaced by another clarifying that the legislators met up with the president in what was termed as a consultative meeting.
The tweet read,”President holds consultative meeting with ODM MPs.
“President William Ruto and Deputy president Rigathi Gachagua, on Tuesday held a meeting with a section of MPs from Nyanza as a follow up to his recent visit in the region,” the tweet added.
This comes after it was rumored that 9 ODM members of parliament have defected to Kenya kwanza.
The nine include; Jalang’o – (Lang’ata), Mark Nyamita (Uriri), Tom Ojienda (Kisumu), Shakeel Shabir (Independent – Kisumu Town East) and Caroli Omondi (Suba South), Elisha Odhiambo (Gem), Gideon Ochanda (Bondo).
However, ODM responded to the meet up, stating that this did not come as a surprise to the Azimio la Umoja coalition.
ODM stated,” We want to inform our members and supporters that our quest for the restoration of our stolen victory and provision of good leadership to Kenyans will not be deterred.”
“The visit to State House this morning by a section of ODM members of parliament has not come as a surprise to the party and the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Movement,” the party added.
On his part, president William Ruto wrote that this is a good move for Kenya to move forward.
He stated,”Leaders must join hands, foster coexistence and work together in confronting the challenges facing our country. They must endeavour to lead by example and serve the interest of the people. This is a sure route to a more united and developed Kenya.”
