Police officer captured harassing a motorist to face the law- IG Koome
In a statement, the national police service stated the Police officer captured harassing a motorist to will face action.
In the statement, Koome reprimanded the officer, who has since been identified, for his actions while issuing a thorough warning to other police officers who plan on abusing their mandate to serve and protect Kenyans.
He stated,”As a Service, we are gravely concerned by, and strongly condemn, the misconduct displayed by the Officer. It should be clear that NPS shall not condone or protect any officer found engaging in abuse of his/her powers and/or privileges, or any other action that can bring disrepute to the image of the Police.”
“We regret the incident and reiterate that the behaviour exhibited by the said officer does not reflect the core values of NPS, more so during this reform where we are focused on and commitment to fostering and promoting good police-community relations, as enshrined in the constitution of Kenya.”
“Finally, we wish to inform the public that the officer has since been identified, and the incident is currently being reviewed for appropriate disciplinary action,” He assured
In the video seen by our watchdogs, the police kept going on and on about what he can do to the motorist.
He stated,”Wewe umewahi kugongwa?…Na hii gari na weza piga miguu yote,”
The motorist then asks the reason for being pulled over, yet he is on the hustle just like everyone else.
The motorist asks,”Unaniharibia kazi kwa nini na mimi pia natafuta?”
But the officer answers arrogantly,”Kwa sababu umejifanya we ni mwanaume.”
In an effort to defend himself not to fall into the wrong side of the law, the officer arrests the motorist insisting that he had disrespected an officer of the law.
The officer says,”Ingia kwa hii gari na utaenda korti, mimi sikufichi,.”
