The Kenyan Government announces plans to employ 3,000 Individuals in the Kenya forestry services.
Speaking today at Serena Hotel, environment, climate change and forestry cabinet secretary, Soipan Tuya, stated that the employed individuals will help the government address challenges faced by forests, including the rampant fires.
Additionally, the individuals would help increase surveillance to tame forest fires caused by illegal activities.
She stated,”Forest fire is attributable to illegal activities. That is why we, as the government we are enforcing enhancement methods and enhancing the number of forest officers in the Kenya Forest Service, where we will soon employ close to 3,000 forest officers.”
Not only in aberdare, hon. Tuya revealed that Mau forest conservancy has been hit hard by the unfortunate and illegal activities going on.
Tuya stated,”The forest fires are raging, and it’s not just in Aberdares ; in fact, the Mau Forest Conservancy is the hardest hit.”
“We have been able to employ a multi-sectoral approach, we have trying our forces within our forest service and Kenya Wildlife Service, various NGOs and government agencies have also come on board,” she added.
