Blow to Raila as ODM loses two parliamentary seats in Garissa and Kilifi.
Raila’s key ally Harrison Kombe floored after the High Court in Malindi overturned his victory in the August 9 general election.
Kombe lost his Mgarini seat on Friday following a petition by a UDA candidate in last year’s general election Stanley Kenga.
Malindi High Court ordered a by-election in Magarini which is one of the seven constituencies in Kilifi county, citing massive electoral irregularities in the August 9 general election.
In Nairobi, the high court nullified the election of ODM’s Lagdera MP Abdikadir Hussein following a petition filed by UDA’s Abdiqani Zeitun.
ODM party’s numbers in the National Assembly have now reduced from 85 to 83 in just one day, posing a majority crisis for the opposition leader.
In addition to the dwindling numbers, is the recent confirmation by President William Ruto a number of ODM lawmakers pledged allegiance to the ruling Kenya Kwanza alliance.
