I’ll be at the DCI headquarters an hour earlier- Matiang’i.
Former Interior cabinet secretary, Fred Matiang’i has wrote back to the DCI saying he will appear before them tomorrow.
Dr Fred Matiang’i was summoned to the DCI HQ at 9am tomorrow. He has written back saying,” I’ll be at the DCI headquarters at 8am.
This comes after Matiang’i failed to appear to the headquarters today, he wrote through his lawyers saying he received the summon late.
His lawyers wrote,”Unfortunately we are constrained to seek that the date of appearance be deferred to March, Tuesday 7, 8am owing to prior arranged court dates on our part.”
“The notice is fairly short and our client and ourselves might not be in a position to be present without offending our prior arrangements,” they added.
According to a directive from detective Michael Sang, he directed Matiang’i to appear before him “at 9.30 am without fail”.
“Failure to comply with the requisition constitutes an offence liable to prosecution,” he wrote.
On his part, Fred Matiangi’s lawyer Danston Omari stated that the former Cabinet secretary will be there because he has nothing to hide from the authorities.
Omari stated,” We are confirming that we shall be there, there is nothing for the CS to hide.”
Additionally, Omari highlighted that they did not honor the earlier summons because, they were not officially addressed to them.
Omari stated,” We have never gone there because we have never been served officially. I was served today, we confirmed we are law-abiding citizens. We will take the CS there tomorrow.”
