Ruto Must Go? We know this will not happen- Political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi.
Political analyst, Mutahi Ngunyi has questioned on what Azimio la umoja’s end goal is because as of now, the president does not seem shaken.
In his statement, Mutahi stated that it is clear, the head of state, President William Ruto will not leave office and is not ready for handshakes. He however, stopped and wondered what is Raila’s game plan?
Ngunyi stated,” I believe in civil disobedience as taught by John Locke. But what is the end goal of mass action? Ruto Must Go? We know this will not happen. How does it end? That is the question Babaman must answer.”
According to John Locke, the government derived its power from the people. He believed that the government has a role to protect people’s natural rights and that they had the right to alter them should it fail to uphold its end of the bargain.
Opposition leader, Raila Odinga wants Ruto out, because he believes they are an “ illegitimate regime” who failed to honor their end of the deal to Kenyans.
While launching his countrywide mass action, Raila cited the following as his reasons; over-taxation, ongoing reconstitution of IEBC, electoral deceit, victimisation of four IEBC commissioners, mishandling of Azimio presidential petition by the supreme court and state capture of the other arms of government.
Last week, Raila stated,”Those 14 days elapsed last midnight with Kenya Kwanza having done absolutely nothing. Today, we make good our promise to Ruto and his illegitimate Kenya Kwanza regime. We unleash the people’s power for action and launch the Movement for Defence of Democracy.”
