Revealed details of the meeting; Yesterday, which was on Saturday, police commanders met up to plan on how they will handle the planned mass protests on Monday, March 20.
The meeting was presided over by Inspector General of police Japhet Koome at Jogoo House office. Matters; how to counters the protests that if anything goes wrong, businesses may be destroyed and people injured.
According to insiders, In Nairobi, the head of regional police Adamson Bungei was given a role to address the media on Sunday and give the way forward.
Bungei is expected to announce which routes, especially those near State House, if they will be no-go zones for some motorists and motorcyclists.
They stated,”We told them to talk to the planners of the protests and agree on the routes to follow but they don’t want to listen. This will backfire.”
Additionally, there are underway plans block routes near the homes of Azimio la umoja leaders as a way of preventing them from mobilizing their supporters for the protests.
Troops of police men have also been sent to major towns; Nairobi, Kisumu, Nakuru, Mombasa, Muranga, Nyandarua, Eldoret, Kitale, Machakos and Kakamega among other places.
This comes after there has been rising tension,that violence may break out on some routes and goons will take advantage to loot.
They stated,”We don’t want any officer to be victimized after the event because he opened fire or injured a protester. We have seen what such issues led to in the past.”
The police also stated that they had received information that groups of people had travelled to Nairobi to attend the protests.
