Protest all you want but there’s no nusu mkate for you- President Ruto to Raila.
Protest all you want; In a statement read by the ICT cabinet secretary, Eliud Owalo, President Ruto still repeated that the opposition leader will never get the handshake like before.
He stated that he won’t use unorthodox means to try and get into the government, like he did in Kibaki and Uhuru Kenyatta’s regime.
The president further outlined that Azimio la umoja are using the cost of living as a pothole to break the constitution and air their own interests.
He stated that Raila’s main problem is that he did not get into government as he anticipated, despite the supreme court ascertaining that the polls were transparent and far.
The statement read,”From the onset, in the view of the government, the current demonstration that we have been witnessing is not informed by the concern about the cost of living.”
“It is largely influenced by that fact that a section of the political class to date despite having exhausted all the legal mechanisms through which the election disputes can be elevated, still are not convinced that they are out of government,” it added.
Owalo made it clear that the government will not bow to intimidation and fear.
He stated,”If it happened before and through acts of violence and intimidation, we have ended up with nusu mkate government, it does not mean that it will happen with the current government or any other government in the foreseeable future.”
“You will not use unorthodox means of getting onto government either fully or partially. It is not a walk in the park. You have to seek the mandate of Kenyans to become part of or form a government,” he added.
He further advised Raila Odinga to be patient and wait for 2027. He urged Kenyans to go on with their businesses because the police are in place to protect them.
He stated,”It is not just a question of telling Kenyans to converge and march to State House. It will not happen. We are not going to engage in politics between now and 2027.”
“Go ahead with your businesses as usual, the government is firmly in a position to create an enabling environment to ensure you will not be intimidated by anyone from any quarter whatsoever,” he added.
