Sonko offers to pay bills for all families injuried in the Azimio protests.
Former Nairobi Governor, Mike Mbuvi Sonko offers to pay bills to those nursing injuries they got from Raila led Anti- government protests.
He empathize with the families saying he knows what they are going through and he is willing to shoulder the costs that comes with it.
He highlighted that he will offset the burial bills and even the children and widows left behind by those who have rested.
He stated,”I know there are so many poor families which cannot afford to meet the burial expenses of any of their loved ones, but I will still help bring home those who have lost their lives back to their families so that they can bury them as I support the children and widows left behind.”
”I remember very vividly in 2017 when we had similar demonstrations. I had to personally cater for medical bills of some youths here in Nairobi, Migori, and Kisumu who were forgotten in various hospitals with very huge bills due to serious injuries,” he added
Sonko however, questioned the youth on why they are taking part of the protests, knowing very well they are the punching bags.
His statement came moments after the national police service condemned the protests and highlighted that no amount of chaos will be tolerated.
IG Koome stated,”NPS assures the public of their security and safety, and remains focused on executing our mandate to serve and protect.”
“It is worth noting that the right to picket does not give the demonstrators any right to destroy property, cause a disturbance, or attack police officers,” he added.
