There’s no way he would kill- Pastor Mackenzie’s family says he’s innocent.
Speaking to Citizen TV, Robert Mackenzie, younger brother to the controversial preacher, says Paul stopped preaching in 2019, and had taken up farming.
He narrates that Paul moved to Malindi, where he operated as a taxi driver, before declaring that he had received a spiritual calling.
He stated,”He started out as a taxi operator in Malindi; an occupation he held for a couple of years before receiving his spiritual calling.”
He adds that Paul tried spreading the gospel around churches in Malindi but couldn’t succeed because of the differences between him and the founders of the churches.
They deemed him as controversial and proved to be too much hence he was kicked out of three churches. That’s when he founded The Good News international church( GNI).
According to residents, Paul Mackenzie’s teachings includes those that encouraged congregants or his followers to shun modern education and health seeking.
His family however, all these things were not mandatory for anyone to claim they were brainwashed. The brother highlighted that Paul would never force anyone not to go to school or fast In that case.
He stated,”My children go to school and they go to hospital and Mackenzie has never forced me to have them do otherwise. If you don’t take your children to school then that’s on you and not Mackenzie.”
The family further refuted claims of Paul Mackenzie using his Shakahola land to bury people in shallow graves.
He stated,”I don’t agree with the accusations. I know my brother well; there’s no way he would kill and bury a person,”
