God will punish us heavily for this- MP Didmus condemns Pastor Ezekiel arrest.
Kimilili member of parliament, Didmus Barasa has condemned the step taken by the authorities to arrest televangelist Ezekiel Odero.
Hon. Barasa highlighted that Pastor Mackenzie’s cultic activities should not be a reference point to condemn the church of God.
He further stated that if the authorities are not careful, the wrath of God will rain on them for making such haste decisions.
Didmus Barasa stated,” I don’t think it was warranted for police to arrest Pastor Ezekiel Odero.”
“One criminal who was running a cult and another one referring to himself as Yesu wa Tongaren cannot be the cause and or result to blanket condemnation of the church. God will punish us heavily for this. I strongly oppose this act,” he added.
This comes after Pastor Ezekiel presented himself to the authorities. According to the interior cabinet secretary, He will be charged with the mass killing of his followers.
His New life church in Mavueni was closed down and 100 people holed up inside were rescued by the authorities.
CS Kindiki stated,” It is notified for information of the general public that today Thursday, 27th April 2023, Mr Ezekiel Ombok Odero the Head of New Life Prayer Centre/Church at Mavueni within Malindi Sub-County of Kilifi County has been arrested and is being processed to face criminal charges related to mass killing of his followers.”
“The said Church has been shut down. The over 100 people who were holed up at the premises have been evacuated and will be required to record statements,” he added.
