The Raila led coalition, Azimio la umoja vows no retreat. Their statement came moments after held a protest today.
Speaking at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Foundation, Azimio la umoja deputy principal, Karua stated that today’s protest were deterred by the heavy deployment of police.
She accused Kenya Kwanza administration of instructing the police to disrupt their protests which they claimed were peaceful.
She stated,”At the break of dawn, police got stations in all parts of Nairobi Metropolis and city centre to prevent us from proceeding with our peaceful protests as planned. Unfortunately, because of the mayhem, we were not able to present the petitions to the four offices.”
She however, expressed her optimism on their quest to remove William Ruto from office. She highlighted that they will be back to the streets on thursday.
She stated,”Despite these developments, we are energised that Kenyans are determined to claim their country. We march on. Tomorrow we take a break to strategise and recharge. Our protests will resume on Thursday, May 4. Same meeting, same office and same people.”
She further thanked their supporters who are with them in this journey.
She stated,”We take this opportunity to say thank you to the Kenyans who braved the chilly weather and brutality of police to exercise their rights and present the petitions to public authority. We stated that the protests would be peaceful and in strict conformity to the law.”
Notably, Karua accused the government for selling genetically modified unga, in the new dropped Maize flour.
