Resolutions are null and void- Uhuru reacts after being replaced by Sabina Chege.
Speaking to the press, Jeremiah Kioni, highlighted that Jubilee party did not recognise an earlier decision by the Kanini Kega.
EALA MP, Kanini Kega had made a decision to replace the former head of state, Uhuru Kenyatta, with Nominated member of parliament, Sabina Chege.
Kega stated,” The National Executive Committee (NEC) has resolved that Sabina will serve as the acting party leader, until the time we convene a National Delegates Convention (NDC) where we will select the leader who will run the party moving forward.”
The EALA MP cited that Uhuru should not in politics leave alone being the party chair, six months after retiring.
He stated,”According to the Constitution, a retired president should not be involved in politics six months after leaving office.”
Contradicting him was Jeremiah Kioni, who stated that the party has its own doctrines and Kega and his team, who are now termed as the rebels, did not follow the right procedure to ouster the sitting party leader.
The statement read,”The Party Leader has overall authority over all party officials and organs. The Jubilee Party Constitution does not envisage a situation where a rebel group can evict a party leader from his position.”
“The rebel group’s meetings in clandestine locations, the subsequent meetings and resolutions are null and void,” he added.
They further expressed that Kega and his group, are making irrational decisions on behalf of the party, because they are getting support from Kenya kwanza government.
They stated,”The rebel group is being commandeered from State House with Kenya Kwanza showing a blatant disrespect and disregard to multiparty democracy.”
