There will be no NDC on Monday- Kanini Kega maintains his sentiments on Uhuru.
EALA member of parliament, Kanini Kega has maintained that Former president Uhuru Kenyatta will not chair any jubilee conference because no conference will take place.
Speaking to the Media, Kega indicated that his allied had convened a National Executive Council (NEC) to put up strategies how they would deal with Uhuru’s plans.
He also outlined that he would convene another conference where he they will clearly ratify the party leadership as follows; Uhuru, jubilee vice chairperson, David Murathe, and secretary-general, Jeremiah Kioni, were ousted and replaced by MPs Sabina Chege (nominated), Adan Keynan (Eldas) and Kega (EALA) respectively.
He stated,”There will be no NDC on Monday, May 22, and if they purport to hold it, then it will be basically treated like any other political rally. We have a Constitution that needs to be followed.”
“The NEC met and made Changes to party’s leadership pending an NDC, which will be called in due course. NEC sat and determined that the NDC was not called procedurally,” he added.
He further urged the former president to stop wasting time holding the NDC because he is no longer the party leader.
He stated,”The moment you seize to operate in an office, even if you sign the document, it will not have the force of law. I think he is just embarrassing himself. It is like he is just signing a document as a president yet he is the former President.”
On the other hand, Jeremiah Kioni who is allied to Uhuru Kenyatta, also maintained that the NDC will be held as planned.
He stated,”We want to assure the delegates of Jubilee that an NDC will be there on Monday. We have secured another venue, actually two more. It has come to our attention that nefarious individuals purport to collect names for our NDC.”
