Access to internet in schools remains a necessity- President Ruto to install internet in primary schools.
During his speech at World Children’s Day, 2022, the head of state, said that access to internet in schools is necessary for children to get a transition in the digital era.
He stated,”Access to internet in schools remains a necessity to impart digital literacy to children to prepare them for the work place and the future world of work.”
He promised that his government will deliver internet connectivity to all primary schools in Kenya, by 2030.
He stated,”To address this, my government is working to connect all primary schools to the Internet by 2030 through the GIGA partnership that has already provided Internet access to 110 schools to the benefit of about 40,000 children.”
This comes after president Ruto also promised free internet and calls during the 2022 general elections campaigns.
He stated,”Many people are struggling to get bundles. You will no longer need bundles to make calls. Calls will be free.”
“We need around Sh38 billion to supply internet to every house,” he added.
