Additional security deployed ahead of petition verdict.
The national police service has stated that additional security deployed in areas that are prone to violence and chaos in election times.
The supreme court is expected to render a verdict on monday 5th 2022. The seven judges led by Chief Justice Martha Koome, will decide what happens to the presidential seat.
The police said,”The Supreme Court of Kenya will make a ruling on the presidential petition on Monday, September 5.”
The police stated that they have deployed more officers because reactions from various people will be different depending on the verdict.

The police stated, “Depending on the ruling, we expect various reactions from the public in hotspot areas such as violence and destruction of property, demonstrations and celebrations. You are directed to prepare operation orders on how to deal with the aftermath of the court ruling.”
The United states through the embassy has also issued a statement regarding the post- election chaos that has been witnessed before.
The Embassy stated,”Election-related demonstrations and rallies regularly take place after elections, at times blocking key intersections and causing traffic jams. Demonstrations may occasionally be violent, requiring police intervention. Strikes and other protest activities related to economic conditions occur regularly.”
Earlier, the national police service had issued a press briefing stating that Kenyans should not fear the outcome of the supreme court verdict, however the should not gather in public places in anticipation of the verdict.
Police stated, “We wish to advice the general public to avoid gathering at the Supreme Court during the ruling, or congregating in public gatherings but follow the proceedings from the comfort of their homes.”
The National cohesion and integration commission has encouraged Kenyans to remain cal and vigilant especially in areas such as: Nairobi, Nakuru, Kericho, Kisumu, Uasin Gishu and Mombasa.
