Cherargei explains why Ruto abolished Kazi mtaani
Nandi senator, Samson Cherargei explains why Ruto abolished Kazi mtaani.
On tuesday, during the commissioning of Soweto East zone B social housing, the president stated that Kazi mtaani was now outdated.
President Ruto said,”Kazi Mtaani is now outdated, the Kazi Mtaani of collecting garbage will not be the case, the building will now be our business and the first people to get jobs in this project will be from Kibra.”
Cherargei has defended the president’s move of abolishing kazi mtaani project , stating that it was used to manipulate some actions in the government.
Cherargei said,”They tried to use Kazi Mtaani in the last election. Chiefs were being directed through the outgoing PS to make sure they call a day before the election to collect Identification Documents of young people in the name of Kazi Mtaani so that theY don’t vote.”
Cherargei also stated that the opposition should do their work of keeping the government in check but they should give a chance to the new administration to run its own initiatives first.
“The opposition side needs to allow the new administration to run its own programme because the Kazi Mtaani project was for the previous administration,” he said.
Echoeing Cherargei was Wamatangi who stated that the president was right, to abolish kazi mtaani.
Wamatangi said,”If you want to impact our youth with skills and long-term value, this is not the way to do it. That is not the way to apply the resources that you have in your hands usefully for the gains of young people.”
