Interior CS Kindiki reveals venue for Madaraka day celebrations 2023; The cabinet secretary announced this when he was inspecting the ongoing renovation of Moi stadium in Embu County.
He stated that Embu County was ready to host Madaraka day, that happens on Ist of June every year, in Kenya.
Madaraka day, is commemorative day for Kenya, it reminds Kenyans of when they gained independence and freedom from the British or the colonies.
Kindiki highlighted that as a way of bringing Kenyans together, de- centralisation of the venue of celebration of National holidays, was done.
He also stated that through this move, the local economy is boosted in various ways, being that Kenya is going through the hardest economic times.
He stated,”Embu County is ready to host this year’s Madaraka Day celebrations.Decentralisation of national celebrations is a Government policy aimed at harnessing national cohesion,”
“This policy also gives all 47 Counties a share of new infrastructure projects such as stadia and boosts the local economy,” he added.
He was Accompanied by Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire, Eastern Regional Coordinator Paul Rotich and other National Government and County Government leader, as he inspected the renovation on the stadium.
Kindiki wrote,” Inspected ongoing renovation of Moi Stadium, Embu County, the venue of this year’s Madaraka Day on 1st June 2023 and the Eastern Region Coordinator’s residence where the Madaraka Day luncheon will be hosted.”
