Directorate of criminal investigations, DCI summons top wiper officials. This comes after allegations of submission of fake documents.
Among the officials summoned include; party chairman Chirau Ali Mwakwere, Secretary-General Shakilla Abdalla and Agatha Solitei, chairperson of the party’s elections board. Others are Roy Ombasa, the party’s head of ICT, and Abdulla Gakurya
According to preliminary Reports, Wiper party had submitted Abubakar Ahmed Talib as the party’s nominee to parliament. However, in their revised changes, the party replaced him in favour of Lucas Mulinge Wambua.
Talib who was not happy with the move, disputed the changes, by filing a complaint with the police that his name was illegally struck off the list by false affidavits being presented to justify the changes.
This has since resulted to DCI summoning the top officials, to shed light on Wambua’s eligibility to represent the ethnic minority group in parliament.
The criminal investigations commission is investigating the possibility of false swearing involving party officials.
According to the constitution, False swearing in is an an offense in Section 114 of the penal code.
Abdalla however, has since refuted to comment on the matter since it is still in court.
“Such matters which are before court are taken up by the party lawyers, so I’m not in a position to give you an update. Our lawyers can give you the progress of the matter.”
Stephen Ole Tanki, the DCI officer in charge of the Kilimani division, issued a warning to any official who does not show up; they will face an arrest.
