Ferdinand Barasa to answer EACC on 785M KETRACO graft charge.
Kakamega county governor, Ferdinand Barasa to answer EACC on misappropriation of 785M at Kenya electricity transmission company limited( KETRACO).
He is set to appear before the Ethic and anti- corruption commission on november 7.
According to the anti- graft commission, Hon. Barasa did not fully explain how he used the 785M when he was the KETRACO chief executive officer.
In february, Kakamega county, commander in chief, was to appear before National Assembly Public Investments Committee (PIC) but he resigned a day before, to run for the gubernatorial seat.
His summon came at a time when the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Noordin Haji is reviewing graft cases against politicians and other bigwigs.
Haji stated that he has come to a realization that some of this corruption cases do not have sufficient evidence or the politicians were accused wrongly.
He said for instance, the graft case against deputy president Gachagua, contained forged evidence, leading to its collapse.
DPP Haji stated,”The decision was made on the threshold. We were pushed by the DCI himself through the media to the extent that individuals were going to say that we did not want to make the decision to charge Gachagua because we were compromised or some of us were sympathetic to certain people.”
“However, when we looked at the evidence, we felt there was sufficient evidence to charge but later we discovered the documents were forged,” he added.
