Government announces four new changes and charges imposed on application and replacement of birth certificates.
In a statement, Government announces for new detailed procedures that are to be followed when doing anything that concerns birth certificates( for instance Application and replacement)
They stated that charges of application for the important document, will be based whether any amendment is needed or not.
For birth certificates that need no amendment, An individual will be charged Ksh60 to apply. However, if there is need to make certain amends for instance the child’s name or one of the parent’s names, Huduma will be forced to charge an extra Ksh40.
Notably, if the amendments involve both the child and parent name, then a sum of sh. 140 will be charged.
The entity further highlighted that applications are either to be done manually across Huduma centre Kenya branches or online on e- citizen. However, a fee of sh. 180 will be charged for those applying through e- citizen.
Importantly, only two people are allowed to do the application of a birth certificate for a child.
The notice read,”This includes parents and guardians of a newly born baby and rescue centres or children’s homes taking charge of the child.”
Requirements include; A birth notification from the hospital of delivery, an Identity Card for both parents or a death certificate if at all parents are deceased.
Remember, It will take approximately 10 days to get the birth certificate after application.
