How to access NHIF services after hours of outage.
On Saturday, National insurance hospital fund Biometrics experienced an outage because of a faulty transformer.
NHIF announced that it has resolved to use the manual system to ensure patients are not inconvenienced.
NHIF stated,”NHIF wishes to assure members that the technical team is working tirelessly to restore services to normalcy. In the meantime, the public is notified that alternative manual processes have been implemented to ensure uninterrupted services while seeking treatment in hospitals.
NHIF added,”Further, NHIF has communicated to all hospitals to ensure patients are not denied services or asked to pay for services that NHIF covers.”
How to access NHIF services during outages
To access the services manually, patients are required to visit accredited facilities with their identification cards and the NHIF card.
Also, patients can use the USSD code, *155# , follow the prompt steps such as providing an identification card number and the specific service in need.
The manual system was abolished in July due to several fraudulent cases such as several individuals using one card to access hospital services.
NHIF further apologized for the inconveniences experienced by their customers.
They said,”NHIF wishes to apologize to members for the unforeseen disruption of services due to a critical power fault occasioned by a faulty transformer.”
“The Fund notes with deep concern the distress members are facing due to the power outage that has caused system downtime since yesterday mid-morning.” They added.
