Kazi mtaani will now be initiative for the environment.
President has declared that all youths who were working under the Kazi Mtaani Initiative now have an opportunity to plant trees.
President William Ruto stated that his government is aimed at planting 5 million trees as a way of dealing with the adverse climatic conditions.
President Ruto stated,”The government shall join all Kenyan citizens to plant 5 million trees in the next five years. Each one of us, the County Governments, the National Government, all the other agencies, the private sector, and all other business traders shall join hands to plant trees to restore our rivers and get rainfall again.”
He added that planting trees will be a win for the country Kenya and the youths to earn something for themselves.
He said,”The Kazi Mtaani Initiative will now be the initiative for the environment. All the youths employed under the Kazi Mtaani will now be employed to plant trees so that we make sure we have enough trees in the country.”
Earlier, president Ruto had abolished Kazi mtaani saying youths collecting garbage is now outdated.
He said,”Kazi Mtaani is now outdated. Collecting garbage is not going to be the case anymore. Houses will now be our business and the youths are going to get jobs.”
Kazi mtaani was an initiative started by the former president, Uhuru Kenyatta, aimed at offering employment to youth.
