KFCB bans all movies with LGBTQ and illegal content.
The Kenya film classification board, KFCB bans all movies broadcasting LGBTQ and illegal content.
The acting chief executive officer, Christopher Wambua stated that the Kenyan state does not permit broadcast of nude content within the borders of the country.
Christopher said,”As we rate and classify content, we also consider other applicable laws. If there is any content that normalizes, glorifies same-sex relationships, our position in Kenya has always been to restrict and not to broadcast, exhibit or distribute that kind of content within the borders of the country.”
Wambua added that the board had before, banned a number of movies broadcasting content that is against the laws of Kenya.
KFCB stated that such films violated Article 165 of the Penal Code that outlaws homosexuality, as well as the provisions of the Films and Stage, Plays Act Capp 222 of the laws of Kenya.
The board added,”For the avoidance of doubt, restricted in this case means that the film is prohibited from exhibition, distribution, possession or broadcasting within the Republic of Kenya.”
This comes after President Ruto held an interview with CNN’s Amanpour regarding the stand of Kenya on LGBTQ.
President Ruto stated that, Kenya has its land laws and morals that must be adhered to, however, his government will serve everyone regardless of their beliefs.
In the same line of thought is the education cabinet secretary, Goerge Magoha who called upon Kenyans to support his move against pornographic sites in Kenya.
He stated that pornographic sites have been the root cause of immorality among the young school children in Kenya.
