Last minute caution from Azimio; Any moment now, protests are expected to start, however Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni has stated that they will act on intelligence reports.
Kioni urged all Azimio supporters to avoid party colours while attending this rally; He warned supporters not to wear their respective party colours.
He stated,”To all our Jubilee and Azimio supporters, we have information that our rivals have illegally acquired Jubilee T-Shirts and other materials to impersonate our party members to cause violence.”
On the same regard, Orange democratic movement warned their members against party colours, they feared their opponents will impersonate them to cause chaos.
ODM stated,”Kenyans will hold peaceful demonstrations tomorrow. It is a constitutional right.
“Our rivals have acquired shirts with ODM/Azimio colours to be worn by their hired supporters to cause mayhem. We want to warn them that no one from our side will wear party colours,”
Their fears came a day after the ruling party United Democratic Alliance, announced it will hold a parallel rally to counter Azimio demonstrations
UDA stated,”We are expecting at least 20,000 people in tomorrow’s picketing on Karen, Kitisuru, and Lower Kabete roads leading to the following homes: Raila Odinga, Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka, Martha Karua, and Eugene Wamalwa.”
Nairobi business community also stated that they will hold a rally, to protest this rally that is likely to destroy their businesses.
They stated,”We will stop at nothing to protect our investments, women and children.”
In as much as there is a lot of tension, Interior ministry has ensured that law keepers are in place.
Kindiki stated,”The responsibility to ensure that assemblers, protestors, picketers and petitioners are peaceable, unarmed and orderly is on the organizers and leaders of the activity.”
