List of Bigwigs to quit party posts and take state jobs.
According to the constitution of Kenya, State officers are not supposed to hold office in political parties.
Article 77 (1, 2) of the Constitution,” A full-time state officer shall not participate in any other gainful employment. Any appointed State officer shall not hold office in a political party.”
Below is a list of Bigwigs to quit party posts and continue their duty in state offices.
Musalia Mudavadi
The ANC leader is expected to resign, this was a report from Lunani, the ANC national chairman.
Mudavadi is expected to take up the prime cabinet secretary job.
Lunani said,”He (Mr Mudavadi) is set to hand over the leadership of the party to me and other organs of the party in an acting capacity before we follow the laid procedures to take over the mantle. He is a law abiding citizen, therefore, he is resigning before he takes the oath of office.”
Justin Muturi
Muturi who was also nominated as the attorney general is the expected to resign.
Muturi revealed that he has given his party allies ( Democratic Party)a go ahead to choose a new leader.
Muturi said,”The party will choose another leader. I am acutely aware of Article 77(2) of the constitution.”
The party national chairman, Esau said he is convening a meeting to choose a new leader.
Esau said,”We are very happy and we are grateful to President Ruto for that appointment. We will start the process of replacing him by convening management, then NEC and NDC before he takes the oath of office.”
Other leaders include; Alfred Mutua who is the Cabinet nominee for Foreign Affairs, Moses Kuria nominated as Trade and Industry CS, Eliud Owalo the nominee for ICT.
