Mbona Gachagua hakukataza Rais kusoma taarifa- Sifuna on Azimio recognizing Ruto as president.
Speaking during an interview, Nairobi senator Edwin Sifuna, stated that the deputy president does not need to put up barricades to talks.
Sifuna highlighted that the deputy president was there when Ruto was planning to give the bispartisan speech, why is he giving more conditions now?
Sifuna posed,”Mbona Gachagua hakukataza Rais kusoma taarifa ambayo alisomea taifa?”
”Sisi hatukua State House, wakati Rais alikua anasoma taarifa kwa Taifa, tutamskiza William Ruto kama kiongozi wa Taifa, ni yeye alianza haya mazungumzo,”
Loose translation,”Why didn’t Gachagua stop the President from delivering his speech to Kenyans. We were not at State House when the President made the call, we will listen to President William Ruto as the leader of the country, he is the one that started the truce call.”
This discussion came, after the second in command, Rigathi Gachagua demanded that in order for the dialogue to take place, Azimio la umija must publicly recognize president Ruto as the head of state.
Gachagua revealed that Azimio had sent someone to try and talk to President Ruto because everybody was against them and they needed a smooth exit strategy.
Gachagua stated,”Before we can even agree to talk to him, he must first acknowledge in public that President Ruto is the president of Kenya. They reached out to President Ruto on Saturday, sent him somebody and said we have come to the end, the international community has abandoned us, people are against us the church we want to call off this demonstration.”
“Can you please give us an exit strategy, the president said it’s okay, no problem go to Parliament and discuss with Kimani Ichung’wah and others and say what your issues are, those people to listen and make a decision,” he added.
