Mixed reactions ignite as President Ruto fires Public health PS, KEMSA CEO and Board.
Mixed reactions ignite as the head of state, took the bold step to deal with the KEMSA scandal. He thereby appointed Dr. Andrew Mutava Mulwa as KEMSA’s Acting CEO.
He stated,”Therefore, in keeping with the Administration’s Health policy of “leaving no one behind”, the Administration will spare no effort in rebuilding the KEMSA supply chain management system so as to secure efficiency and accountability in the provision of medical supplies to all health facilities across our nation.”
The head of state suspended Terry Ramadhani as KEMSA CEO and other staff members namely Martin Wamwea (MOH) and Lenson Kariuki (MOH), Pauline Duya (MOH), Livingstone Njuguna (MOH), Dr. Charles Kariuki Chege (MOH), Justus Kinoti (KEMSA), Cosmas Rotich (KEMSA) and Anthony Chege (KEMSA).
Consequently, The President appointed Irungu Nyakera as chairperson of the board and reconstituted the entire board with four new individuals; FCPA Hezbon Oyieko Omollo, Bernard Kipkirui Bett, Dr. Jane Masiga and Jane Nyagaturi Mbatia.
However, Netizens reacted to this step;
Wanjiku expressed,”Whatever President Ruto is selling us, we ain’t buying. Firing Health PS Josephine Mburu ain’t enough to tame the unrestrained Kamagut cartels’ indulgence and unholy alliance with KEMSA management. KEMSA and NHIF are being looted by known state brokers. President William Ruto must equally send CS Susan Nakhumicha WAFULA home! Alikuwa wapi.”
Lawyer AhmedNassir expressed,”Resolutely dealing with miscreants who think KEMSA is the place to EAT…H. E William Ruto put on notice all in his government who think STEALING from the public is OK.”
Mutoro wrote,”President Ruto action at KEMSA spreads excitement among Kenyans tired of corruption … but sends an earthquake of fear among civil servants. One or two such actions – will certainly slow down wastage and graft in the public sector. I hope he will be consistent. That way, it won’t be business as usual.”
MP Yusuf Hassan expressed,”I commend the President William Ruto for his swift and decisive response to the ongoing crisis at KEMSA. This decisive action sends a strong message that incompetence and corruption will not be tolerated within our public service.”
